African Desert and Delta

Day 1 Swakopmund

Welcome to Swakopmund. After meeting your guides, you have the rest of the day off to relax, explore or participate in the many activities available in this city. Some of the popular activities that can be done here are: quad biking in the dunes, scenic flights, Sand Boarding or Tandem Skydiving. When the weather is clear during the skydive, you can see all the way to the next day’s destination! Walking around the city, shopping and having a leisurely lunch is also a great way to spend your day.
Optional Activities: Quad biking, Sand boarding, Sky Diving, Scenic Flights, Dinner out etc.

Day 2 Spitzkoppe

Leaving the coast we drive through arid landscapes to Spitzkoppe Mountain. The enormous granite monoliths dominate the otherwise flat landscape and we set up camp in the wild plain at the base of the mountain. This afternoon our guide will take us on a guided walk to explore the unique rock formations.  The more adventurous among us may want to try some mountain climbing behind camp for some stunning views of the landscape.

Day 3 Kamanjab – Himba Tribe

Today we head inland towards Kamanjab in the north-west of Namibia. The following morning we will spend time with some of the semi-nomadic Himba people. The Himba are a pastoral people and are easily recognisable by their unique style of hair and dress. Please note that this visit is part of the Activity Package.

Day 4 & 5 Etosha National Park

The next day we travel along to Etosha. This is the venue for some of the most unique game viewing experiences in Africa. The sparse grasslands allow great opportunities to see animals normally hidden in dense vegetation. You may even see some of the amazing animals crossing the road in front of your truck! We will go on various game drives, and spend our evenings at the abundant water holes for some excellent game photography. Our quality bungalow accommodation is inside the park at Okaukuejo and/or Halali which both boast floodlit night water holes where the animals come regularly to drink.
Optional Activities: Morning and Night Drive with expert Namibian Game Ranger.

Day 6 Windhoek

Today we set off towards Windhoek, the Capital city of Namibia. On the way we stop at a popular craft market where you can buy handmade gifts to take home. Windhoek is not only the capital of Namibia; it is also the cultural, social and economic centre of the Namibia. On arrival in the city, our guide wil take us on a short city tour in our truck. After that there is an opportunity to go out for a nice dinner. For example: Joe’s Beer House is an exciting dining experience for our optional dinner out.

Day 7 Botswana – Ghanzi

After getting up early, we cross the border into Botswana. We drive to Ghanzi. If you have booked the Activity Package you will meet with a local Bushman (San) community. Here you can experience some traditional tribal dancing. Afterwards there will also be a supper in Ghanzi.

Day 8, 9 & 10 Maun – Okavango Delta

Our journey takes us from Ghanzi towards Maun. Maun is the gateway to the Okavango Delta, the world`s largest inland delta. Maun is well known as the gateway to the Okavango Delta, the world’s largest inland delta. We spend one night in Maun and prepare for this excursion. Small planes transport us over this amazing area to our tented camp; Moremi Crossing. Once in the Delta we take a nature walk with a local expert and a guided afternoon boat cruise. If the water level allows there will also be a traditional mokoro (dug-out canoe) trip. If you have not booked the Activity Package, you will stay at the last accommodation until the others come back at Day 10.

Day 11 Gweta

A second scenic air-transfer will return us to Maun and the truck. This afternoon we drive to Planet Baobab where our evening accommodation is set amongst the majestic Baobab trees. For those wishing to learn more an optional Baobab Bush Walk is available. Optional Activity: Baobab Bush Walk.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 12 Chobe National Park

Today we travel to Chobe. If you have booked the Activity Package you will enjoy a sunset river cruise in the afternoon. The animals are best spotted from the Chobe River. Elephants, Hippo, Crocodiles, Eland and many other creatures reside in Chobe so keep your cameras ready.
Optional Activities: Game Drive (next morning)

Day 13 Zimbabwe – Victoria Falls

On arrival in Victoria Falls we have time to plan the next day’s adventure activities before we visit the spectacular Victoria Falls and experience the thundering of the mighty Zambezi. if you have booked the Activity Package the entrance fee for the Vic Falls National Park is included. An optional dinner out is a friendly way to end your tour with all the new friends you’ve made along the way.
Optional Activities: Zambezi Sunset Cruise, Dinner out, White Water Rafting, Bungee Jump, Elephant Excursion, Walking with Lions, Horse Riding and much more… (at own expense)

Day 14 Victoria Falls

Officially your tour finishes after breakfast but most people will spend the day White Water Rafting, a not-to-be-missed experience of a lifetime! Vic Falls offers many exciting alternatives such as a walk with lions or a bungee jump from the bridge that joins Zimbabwe with Zambia. Optional Activities: White Water Rafting, Bungee Jump, Elephant Excursion, Walking with Lions, Horse Riding, Dinner out. (at own expense)
