Nodumo Preschool

About This Project

The Nodumo preschool is situated in the rural area of KwaMthethwa, near Matubatuba  in Kwa-Zulu Natal. The pre-school takes care of many children who have been orphaned due to HIV/AIDS in the area and has been in existence since 2000. Most of these children are now raised by aging grandmothers who can hardly afford to feed them.

Nodumo Preschool

Via Abang Africa Trust, the Nodumo crèche has been supported in various ways. Many travellers supported by Abang Africa Trust, come by and support the project with food donations for the feeding programme.Various donations like chairs, cooking utensils and books have been donated over the years as well.

In the beginning the crèche was housed in the local church, with no future prospects. Thanks to generous fundraising organised by individual travellers, Abang Africa Trust together with local RhinoCoast Guest House, has been able to erect a sustainable building for the crèche including toilets. The kids now have a safe and dry place to go with proper sanitation.

There are 40-50 children at the crèche, a monthly feeding scheme is main priority.
